National Geographic Wild debuts on StarHub’s Digital Cable Platform
The 24-hour television channel is dedicated to spectacular wildlife documentary programmes

Singapore, 26 September 2006 – National Geographic Channels International (NGCI) and StarHub jointly announce the launch of National Geographic Wild in Singapore, available on StarHub’s digital cable platform. The brand new 24-hour English language television channel is dedicated to showcase the award-winning National Geographic wildlife and natural history programming. National Geographic Wild will commence broadcast on StarHub Digital Cable Channel 77 from 2 October 2006.

Singapore is the first country in Southeast Asia to offer National Geographic Wild, following the success of National Geographic Channel and A1 in the country. Both channels are currently available exclusively on StarHub Digital Cable Channels 11 and 73 respectively.

National Geographic Wild offers wildlife programmes of the highest calibre, bringing viewers an authentic experience of all aspects of the animal kingdom in its rawest forms. From ferocious creatures to the gentle giants, National Geographic Wild will feature world renowned reptile expert, Dr Brady Barr in action with wild reptiles in “Crocodile Chronicles” to the unique battlefield in the Okavango Delta of “Relentless Enemies”, made by internationally acclaimed, multiple Emmy award-winning naturalists and documentary filmmakers Dereck and Beverly Jouberts.

National Geographic Wild promises viewers with the same uncompromised hallmark quality of National Geographic Channel’s documentary filmmaking, unsurpassed cinematography, breathtaking visuals and compelling storytelling.

Mr Zubin Gandevia, Managing Director and Executive Vice President of National Geographic Channel Asia said: “Programmes on National Geographic Wild are timeless classics for those who want the real and entertaining actions set in the wild. They are insightful and inspiring. They will challenge and entertain audiences across all demographic groups. National Geographic Wild will appeal to viewers who possess a genuine curiosity about the animal kingdom and the planet we all share. We look forward work with StarHub to make this channel a success in Singapore.”

Mr Patrick Lim, StarHub’s Vice President for Cable TV Services said, “We offer a compelling line-up of channels on our cable TV platform, and we are constantly looking to enhance this offering for our viewers. The latest addition of National Geographic Wild has in part, been fuelled by a strong demand for programming geared for families in Singapore. There are many lessons that we can learn from the magnificent wild creatures of the animal world, and we believe that families who tune in to National Geographic Wild can look forward to an intriguing and entertaining journey. We are confident that National Geographic Wild will enjoy the same success we have seen for National Geographic Channel since its debut in Singapore.”
